Trail & Timber aims to give weekend explorers honest, field-tested information rather than recycled marketing copy. Every route and gear recommendation is written by someone who has actually walked the trail or used the equipment.
Sourcing
Our articles draw on first-hand hikes by our contributors, direct conversations with park rangers and trail maintenance crews, official land management agency data, manufacturer specification sheets for gear, and community reports from trail logs and local hiking clubs, which we cross-check before publishing.
Review process
Trail guides and gear reviews are checked by a second editor for factual accuracy, current relevance, and clarity before going live, with route difficulty ratings and distances verified against at least one independent source where possible.
Corrections
When a reader or contributor flags outdated trail conditions, a closed route, or an error in a gear specification, we investigate and update the article promptly, noting the date of any substantive correction at the bottom of the piece.
Advertising and independence
Any sponsored content or paid gear partnership is clearly labeled as such at the top of the article, and sponsorship never overrides our right to give a critical or lukewarm assessment of a product or destination.
